Bitcoin Rises Over 30% in August, Trading Volume Nears Three-Year Low

Bitcoin surged over 30% in August, yet trading volumes across exchanges remain weak, approaching the lows seen since September 2023, nearly reaching the lowest levels in three years. There is a clear disparity between price performance and market activity. Compared to the trading volumes at the peak of the Bitcoin market in October 2025, the data shows significant differences. Binance continues to lead in spot trading volume, but it has dropped from $198 billion to $44 billion, although this is $1.6 billion higher than in July, indicating initial signs of stabilization. Gate's trading volume fell from $53.4 billion to $14 billion, while Bybit dropped from $41.2 billion to $17.4 billion, averaging a decline of about 70%. Nevertheless, the trading volume in August shows some stability, remaining close to July levels. If Bitcoin's price rises further while trading volume begins to recover, it could signal the start of a new upward cycle.
