Cyberspace vs AI: The Question is Not Who, But How
Despite its status as a central innovation capable of disrupting many sectors, artificial intelligence is increasingly seen as a problem to be contained, particularly regarding the undesirable content it enables to generate or the growing number of attacks and other security incidents carried out by its AI agents.
This situation has been analyzed by Jason Lowery, an officer of the US Space Force and American aerospace engineer, primarily known within the crypto ecosystem for his very unique vision of this cryptocurrency and its ability to serve strategic cybersecurity objectives. This analysis was presented in 2023 as part of a thesis conducted during his studies at MIT, titled A Novel Theory on Power Projection and the National Strategic Significance of Bitcoin.
In this context, Jason Lowery explains how "AI agents can observe and act exactly like humans, but execute 10,000 times more actions in the same period." This situation would render attempts at detection like "is it a human or an AI?" completely futile, while the real essential point lies in their behavior.
The key to defending cyberspace against undesirable content or attacks carried out by AI is to target ACTION, not IDENTITY. Trying to detect AI is a futile quest; the key is to target its BEHAVIOR. If you want to deter an AI from accessing your website or system, simply make each ACTION costly in computing tokens. Make each command or button cost one token, and suddenly, acting becomes 10,000 times more expensive for an AI than for a human.

Bitcoin: A Non-Sovereign Computing Token Network Geopolitically Neutral
In fact, the theoretical framework developed by Jason Lowery is based on the idea of making certain operations costly for AI agents, while they would cost almost nothing for a human with more limited actions. A reality already proposed quite similarly in 1997 with Adam Back's principle of "Hashcash" against email spams.
According to this logic, the aerospace engineer proposes to view Bitcoin's Proof of Work as a security technology, in the face of a "computational power destined for AI [that] is constantly becoming cheaper and more efficient, with some countries having computational capabilities far superior to others, creating a significant power imbalance."
The proposed solution to achieve a positive long-term outcome is to "create a sort of universal network of computing tokens, non-sovereign and geopolitically neutral" capable of creating economic friction against large-scale automated behaviors.
In other words, we need a network that accounts for a set of transferable tokens whose production is costly in computational power, and that no amount of computational power dedicated to AI can surpass. A token network based on a "proof of compute" that must be fully decentralized, so that no person or political entity can take permanent or centralized control of it.

And, in case there is still any doubt, Jason Lowery does not hesitate to clarify that "this computing token network is Bitcoin."
