A new crypto bull run has begun, with Bitcoin soaring from $93,500 to $104,000 in just two days. Simultaneously, the long-awaited altseason has kicked off, with altcoins significantly outperforming Bitcoin this week and driving BTC Dominance lower. Yet, a considerable number of crypto investors—whales included—were caught off-guard by this explosive rally, so much that the term “sidelined” trended on X on Thursday and Friday. As whales rush to accumulate crypto assets in anticipation of the next few months of upward momentum, their buying patterns reveal the best altcoins to invest in for outsized growth. What Are Whales Buying? Bitcoin remains in high demand among whales, especially with many anticipating it to climb to $120k in the short term and $150k in the second quarter. $210k is now a potential price target for this year. However, BTC Dominance is now moving lower as altcoins take the centre stage. Unsurprisingly, Ethereum is seeing significant buying pressure from whales and institutions alike. For instance, Abraxas Capital has now withdrawn $297 million worth of ETH in just two days, data from Lookonchain reveals. Ethereum printed two strong green candles on Thursday and Friday, rallying by nearly 22% and 6% respectively, with its price climbing from $1800 to just shy of $2500 in two days before a pullback. The ETH price is now facing resistance from a key supply barrier at $2,380 and its 200-day Exponential Moving Average at $2,428. Sidelined investors should wait for a flip of these levels before buying or wait for a dip. Besides ETH, XRP has also been in high demand among whales. Prominent analyst Ali Martinez highlights that whales scooped up 880 million XRP over the past month, which pans out to a nearly $2 billion investment. Unsurprisingly, meme coins are also in high demand. In particular, Fartcoin has established itself as a particularly attractive investment to deep-pocketed investors. Within the past 48 hours, AI agent Moby flagged several six-figure investments into $FARTCOIN. These include a $311k purchase at $1.20, $200k at $1.34 and many more. Fartcoin has flipped the $1.20 resistance level and is now poised for new highs. The popular Solana meme coin Dogwifhat is also attracting six-figure investments, recording a $200k purchase at $0.692. Ethereum, XRP, Fartcoin and WIF are all popular, blue-chip crypto assets and are consensus picks among experts for the best altcoins to buy now. Low-Cap Meme Coins Also Among The Best Altcoins To Buy Now The start of a bull market is an excellent time to invest at the far end of a risk curve — i.e. low-cap gems with high upside potential. Unsurprisingly, whales are pouring high five figures into coins like Moo Deng, Goatseus Maximus, Peanut the Squirrel and Just A Chill Guy, all of which are up by more than 100% over the past few days. Sidelined investors can gain exposure to these coins for outsized returns in the coming months. Similarly, a whale invested nearly $200k into Solaxy (SOLX), a new Solana meme coin that is still in its presale. This Solana Layer-2 coin has seen several six-figure investments during its ICO and has already raised over $34 million in short order. Considering its Layer-2 scaling solution, prominent analysts are viewing it as a long-term investment, especially since the top Bitcoin and Ethereum L2s have multibillion-dollar valuations. The fact that SOLX will go live amid a bull market makes it even more attractive, with many influencers viewing it as a 20x investment. Similarly, an Ethereum-based AI agent coin, MIND of Pepe (MIND), is in high demand among whales. Last week, a deep-pocketed investor swapped 70 ETH for MIND, adding to the token’s list of six-figure investments. Its presale has already raised nearly $9 million, a strong sign of community support. MIND of Pepe is launching its AI agent on May 10th and ending its presale on May 31st, making it one of the top trending low-cap coins in the AI space. Experts are viewing it as one of the best altcoins to buy for the upcoming bull market, with many eyeing up to 100x returns.
