AMF warns Pump.fun is unregistered and unauthorized in Québec

By: cryptoslate.com|09/27/2026 19:05:26

Québec's securities regulator, the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF), issued a warning on September 25, 2026, stating that Pump.fun is not registered and is unauthorized to solicit investors in the province. The platform, which deals with user-generated digital assets, has been categorized by the AMF as a high-risk cryptoasset platform. The warning clarifies that Pump.fun cannot legally seek investment business from Québec residents.

The AMF's notice provides a specific finding regarding Pump.fun's regulatory status, which is also listed by the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA). The CSA identifies the AMF as the issuer of the alert and reiterates the findings about registration and solicitation. However, the warning does not indicate any enforcement actions, such as a website ban, fraud findings, or changes to user wallet access.

The AMF advises residents to exercise caution when dealing with entities on its high-risk list and encourages prospective investors to check its registers to confirm whether a firm or individual is authorized to operate. The Pump.fun entry in the registers reflects the AMF's findings, serving as a verification tool for residents.

The warning emphasizes that the lack of AMF registration and authorization is a significant concern for potential investors. It does not address the value fluctuations of user-generated digital assets, which are separate from regulatory status. The AMF's guidance is clear: residents should verify authorization before engaging with Pump.fun.
