19.4% of Solana Block Production Comes from Amsterdam
Amsterdam is responsible for 19.4 percent of the block production on Solana, making the city a crucial location for the network. Only Frankfurt scored higher. The speed of data transfer between computers is essential for Solana, and Amsterdam offers fast connections due to its status as one of the largest internet hubs in the world. At a distance of less than 500 kilometers, the transfer takes an average of 28 milliseconds longer, while at distances over 8,000 kilometers, it can rise to 122 milliseconds. Amsterdam is also home to many data centers, making it attractive for companies managing Solana computers. However, the 19.4 percent share does not mean that these computers are managed by Dutch people; foreign companies can also utilize Amsterdam's data centers.
